Base3 Template: Search Box Has No Results

The search box is outputting no results? Additionally, there are some articles I would like to hide from the results.

Kindly create a new menu item with type > Search > search results.
Now open Search Module > set item id for search result > select search menu item.
Save and check.

About the hide articles, sorry Joomla does not have this option in search component.

Ninja But this would mean I have to 'show' a "Search" on my navigational menu? Do I have to use the 'SuperUser Menu' trick to put it in the menu but hide it from public view?

You can select any other menu item as well. Or make a hidden menu and add search in it.
The main purpose of this is when you search something it will show search results on that menu otherwise it show results on menu item that you will select.
