JS files replicating in

This site is out of storage, and I am no longer able to create a backup or even update Joomla extensions. I did a search through the site files and discovered there seems to be a t3 asset folder public_html/t3-assets/js that is huge 2149.20M, half the space of the hosting account. I cannot remove any of the scripts since I have no clue what they are for. It is consuming half of the hosting space, and is continually trying to add more scripts. Please tell me what to do to fix this.

Can you tell me if it is okay to delete the files in /public_html/t3-assets/css and /public_html/t3-assets/js? As stated above they are now taking up almost 2 gigs of space, and I can't afford the hosting space if this continues.

Hi Pat,

This folder contains the compressed CSS/JS files which helps your site loading faster. They are there when you enable the Optimize CSS / Optimize JS in template settings. You can delete them but make sure that you've not customized CSS there and also check if you put any other files there.

Note that new files will be recreated when your site is loaded next time.

How would I know if I put any there? I place custom css files in either the template css folder or the local folder.

patvandenbosche Some guys just inspect element and edit file in this folder - of course, this is wrong way. If you customize css in custom.css file, then it's good to go. You don't need to care about css file in assets folder.

And if new files are created, does that mean only the files currently needed would be in there? I just have to find a way to control the size of this account. Thanks.

As I mentioned, you can delete all files in this assets folder. Then when your site is loaded again, the new file will be created.

You then can check the size of this folder again.

I've deleted all the files for .js and .css, and it seems to run as smooth as it did with all of these files. And I corrected the setting in the template so the files don't get created again. The client is happy, and the host is happy. Thank you!
