I'm using K2. In order to create nav menu page content like 'About Us', I had to create a catetory. However when registered users contribute blog content or 'Item' content they see the categories that are only for the 'nav menu page' content. How can I hide these categories from them? The first two categories in the screenshot are for navigational menu content. If I set the categories to anything else other than 'Public' then the home page, about us etc content won't show. What do I do?

So the categories for the About Us, Contact Us, Home Page content should be hidden from the Registered Users when they are posting new content. They shouldn't see those categories only the ones that pertain to them.

The categories of concern to me cannot be selected by the user but at the same time if I can remove them all together from the drop down that will be great.

um not sure that you can

This is a k2 setting so isn't affected via any template or JB extension as far as I'm aware

With this question you might want to try the k2 forum

Cheers
Paul
