Just completed an update from version 4.7.8 to 4.7.9. We are now experiencing significant page load time increases. Performance loss on frontend and backend. Also increased load time for Kunena Forum because of JomSocial integrations.

As a process of elimination, we restored a pre-update version of the site and Jomsocial 4.7.8 works as expected on top of Joomla 3.10.0. Once the 4.7.9 update is applied, page load times increase again.

    Hi
JS 4.7.9 version is only for Joomla 3.9.28 and there will be new version for Joomla 4.
However the changes in the 4.7.8 does not make change in the loading as the same code has been in both version with bug fixes only.
Can you share the details that load time is on backend in JomSocial only or Joomla. if there loading time increase for complete site it would be server as JomSocial only load on its own pages.

Ninja Will there be a JS update for Joomla 3.10?

JS 4.7.8 seemed to work fine with Joomla 3.10. No issues with page loading. The performance issues only begin after the update to JS 4.7.9. Page loading times have increased only for JomSocial and Kunena; on the front end and backend. All other elements of the site and server appear fine.

But... If you are saying that there were only bug fixes in JS 4.7.9, then it should work fine with Joomla 3.10. Something has changed to cause the performance losses. I would prefer we spent some time and try to figure out what is causing the page load increases.

Have you attempted to login with the provided credentials?

If this is something that can't be fixed, I will roll the site back to Joomla 3.9.

Ninja I just updated JS 4.7.8 to 4.7.9 on a Joomla 3.9.28 site and the same issue exists with both JS and Kunena page loading times. This is clearly an issue being introduced by the JomSocial update.

        Hi
Kindly submit site super user login in edit fields so we can check the slow speed issue on JomSocial page to check the loading of files.

Ninja Sorry... didn't realize the account password was not included. I have provided in notes.

              Hi
it will work for for both version if you have J4 planning you can use that too.
Do not forget to take backup of site before upgrade.

Ninja Attempted update to 4.7.10. This version completely breaks JS on the backend.

I have rolled this site back to 4.7.9.

                  Hi
The administrator page of your site redirected back to Homepage
Kindly check. Or u can give a test site on which you have backend issue.

Ninja I don't see a problem with the backend... I just logged on now.

Ninja Also... This issue is on both backend and frontend. This issue is impacting Kunena as well. If I disable the JS / Kunena integration, Kunena returns to normal.

                      Hi
/administrator Page redirecting back to Homepage of site. If you are using custom URL kindly submit that. Also provide the site details on which you are using latest package shared by dev team member.
If you are using amazon S3 for storage that case the images are loading from S3 side.
You can use Joomla cache as well to improve it.

Ninja This is the 2nd time you guys have complained about this redirect. There is no custom URL being used. I can't repeat this condition. I can access the backend from several systems, including some international. What is the IP network you are connecting from? Post this detail and I'll create an exception.

Caching is not going to fix this problem. I keep repeating that this is not a performance issue with the server, or Joomla directly. The performance issues began with JS 4.7.9 and they go away when I roll back to 4.7.8.

                          Hi
My IP is dynamic so its not work. If you can unblock the location India and Vietnam it will work.
Also i raised it to dev and got update that this is improved in upcoming version as it is related to amazon s3. Without S3 storage there is no issue.

Ninja Actually, we have no Geo-Blocking enabled but I have made one last change that might give you access. We thought that the issue may be related to the AWS S3 SDK. We were able to eliminate the S3 config errors by adding a PHP variable to change the default location of the S3 config file. The error was stopped but the performance problem remains. Maybe if we had the correct contents of a config file in the path, the issue would be fixed.
Until there is a bug fix, is there a work-around because simply disabling remote storage doesn't fix the issue.

                            -k

Ninja Try to access now. Let me know when finished. I don't want to leave the backend unprotected for too long.

                              Hi,
I added the fix to your site. Kindly check.
                              File was changed: /components/com_community/libraries/storage/s3.php

manhta It took a few days but this action has fixed the performance problems.

                                Thx,
