If you click on some of the buttons then the component name is being shown.

Like this: COM_COMMUNITY_PAGE_TITLE shows up in the browser as the name of the site. And if you go to JomSocial profile area after logging in, and click on some of the buttons, it does the same thing.

Some of reads the way it's supposed to:

COM_COMMUNITY_PHOTOS_ALL_PAGE_PHOTOS
Group Albums
Event Albums
Member Albums
My photos
But then I get: COM_COMMUNITY_PHOTOS_ALL_PAGE_PHOTOS on the button.

And the drop down menu shows the component aliases as well.

You can see it in action here, as well as other sections: https://whatsyourstory.me/index.php?option=com_community&view=photos&Itemid=102

Disregard the admin info I gave you. I blew the entire site away by upgrading to the latest version of Joomla. I had to delete the site and database and starting from scratch. I couldn't even access the backup files in the control panel. Poof! Gone.

I have to reinstall JomSocial now.

They completely changed the layout of the control panel. Why do developers mess with us like that? Everything was perfectly easy to find in the old admintration panel. Easy menu across the top of the page before.

Sounds like you went from Joomla 3 to 4. This isn't a simple upgrade, more of a mini migration. If you were more comfortable with the Joomla 3 layout why not install it again - it will continue to receive support and security updates for another two years.
Your backups would have been available if you hadn't scrapped the site and database but that being said it's always a good idea to store a copy of your backup locally.
Also, don't get bogged down in templates, Jomsocial is not template dependant and will work just fine with the defaults.
Good luck.

Hi. Guys the Joomla 4 has a New UI and it is different if you are moving from Joomla 3 to 4.
The current version of Jomsocial is only for Joomla 3 and we are releasing new version today that will work on Joomla 4.
Kindly wait for it by today.
For Joomla 4 tutorials you can look here: https://www.joomlart.com/blog/joomla-4-tutorials-all-you-need-to-know-about-joomla-4

Update : You can use version 4.8 from download page and it will work with Joomla 4.

Ninja - I haven't installed JomSocial yet, so I'll wait. I'm still working on learning the new layout of Joomla 4. It's installed, so I may as well run with this.

@mikeymike - I don't know what I did that blew my site away. I first upgraded from 3.10, or something like that, to the latest 3.XX....and there were no other upgrades from there in the 3 versions. Next, I downloaded their from version 3.xx to 4.xx. Then I got this very bright graphic that screamed in my face that my site had a serious error.

It's okay. I had WAY too many modules installed. I learned my lesson. First Joomla...learn. Then JomSocial...learn Then template...tweak... and then one module at a time. There is peace in my brain again.

This is resolved. I installed Joomla 4, and JS 4.
