i've installed jomsocial 4.8 version and found an issue. Some profiles dissapeared.

Check the profile of a user with userid= 2655 and alias= anne-alexandra-fortin

If you use the userid: in URL, then profile appears.
staging1.sitename.net/2655:

If you use the alias in URL then profile is not there and redirects to homepage.
staging1.sitename.net/anne-alexandra-fortin

In my live site i installed back the jomsocial 4.7.9 and sitename.net/anne-alexandra-fortin works fine. Only 4.8 has the issue.

    Can you help to check username and email in Joomla user Manager.
    Update does not make any deletion of the user as its manual option. It only override the file for new changes and fixes.

      it is obvious that you didn't check the user profile example i wrote.
      I didn't say that the user is deleted.
      The user is in the database as it should be.
      Please read my message again.
      I told you that with jomsocial 4.8 installed, if you use in URL the 'userid:' eg '2655:' of the user, then the profile page displays fine.
      Check staging1.sitename.net/2655:

      But if you use the user alias in the URL, eg 'anne-alexandra-fortin' then no profile displays.
      Check staging1.sitename.net/anne-alexandra-fortin

      If Jomsocial 4.7.9 reinstalled, the profile displays fine either way, no problem.
      Only if Jomsocial 4.8 installed, the profile dissapears if alias is only name with no userid in front.

      I hope issue is more clear now.

        I did checked but the super user login is not valid on live site.
        I also updated the Joomla and JomSocial for test the see thing on my local but there is no user deletion on this.
        Since i can not find user o staging when it not exist it is obvious i have to ask you.
        Hope it make sense.
        Coming back on the topic request i tried the url but Edit profile option again redirect me back on the Home page.
        + site is on Joomla 3

          The profile alias doesn't work that way. You can change your alias at profile/preferences.

          Note: Default profile alias starts with user id.

            So if i go to profile/preferences and delete the id "740-" and click on Save changes then i get only the name "test" as profile alias.
            Is that correct?

              So please check again the issue i try to describe but looks like it is not understandable.

              So in my example the user "anne-alexandra-fortin" deleted using his profile/preferences his userid "2655-" in order to have more friently URL, staging1.sitename.net/anne-alexandra-fortin instead of staging1.sitename.net/2655-anne-alexandra-fortin.
              The friently URL displayed his profile with Jomsocial 4.7.9
              But from the moment i installed Jomsocial 4.8 'anne-alexandra-fortin' profile (staging1.sitename.net/anne-alexandra-fortin ) does not display.

              The user is not deleted, but still in database. I mean if you use his userid "2655:" in URL then profile displays fine.
              Check staging1.sitename.net/2655:

              If Jomsocial 4.7.9 reinstalled, the profile displays fine either way, no problem.

                Do not use the - in the Alias it should be single word as in example by dev above like /test
                I checked the profile and resaved the profile with annealexandrafortin/profile
                i also sharing this information to dev on this.
