I added that code at custom code >> mod_custom >> acm >> slideshow >> styles.css and I am getting a 403 error when trying to save the override. When I go into the site settings this is where the 403 error occurs when trying to save my work.

    Scss file are core file, if you want to override a specific css code i suggest you to use custom css in the template.
    About the error this is from your server side that not allow you to save the file due to security/permissions of the file you can ask the hosting provider on this with file path.
    However i suggest you to use custom scss or custom css option.
