Help with Menu style in JA Bookshop

Hi we are using JA Bookshop template and I am not able to minimise the Main Menu.
We would like to extend its width and don't see 2 rows of items. How could we do it?

Could you tell me how you want to extend? as the space for menu now on your site is not enought to show current number of menu items.

Each menu item has this style, you can change the 18px to narrow the space but I think it will not look so nice:

.navbar-nav > li > a {
    padding: 27px 18px;
    border-left: 1px solid #c6538b;
}

We would like to extend the menu width on screen, and adjust the size of logo or the search module. We would like to see it in just one row.

Which file should we edit?

Editing file "/css/template.css" in template "ja_bookshop".

Is this correct or should we change another css file?

With CSS customization, we recommend you to put your custom code into the file: /templates/ja_bookshop (your default template)/css/custom.css

If you don't see this file now, just create it and put the code there.

This file will help to keep you customization not being lost when updating new version of template.

Thank you saguaros, you were right, using a custom css with that padding code looks quite bad, so we should just change the number of levels for that menu and simplify it.
