Jsocial on our live is an older version 4.31 and does not show in the components list in config permissions at all
I imported all users from live site and have the database synced with cron jobs from live site to dev site.

The new version 4.4.5 on dev site shows on CMS config permissions page in CMS but all permissions are set to not allowed inherited by default
Every frontend access is reported as permission restricted by the user
Error
You are not authorised to view this resource.
I manually changed permissions in Jsocial on the dev site to allowed for photos
After the expected result of allowing user to upload and edit folders did not occur.
Uploading appeared to work however after hitting save I received the same system message error.

Currently no user on the dev site can modify Jsocial in any aspect, please assist in resolving this issue

Is this the only area to receive support, do you have a private ticketing service and is this area private allowing me to add authentication that others will not see?

    It is hard to detect issue if you are using very old version as there are many fixes has been added in the UI and core after version 4.3 incuding the Inbox part has been changes , pages features, follow feature and more.
    I suggest you to upgrade Jomsocial to latest version first as this is is required so you have to new version.

    make sure you need to use Jomsocial 4.5 version first here you can see upgrade steps and the Compatible Joomla version for Jomsocial https://www.jomsocial.com/blog

    Jomsocial has ACL function in Configurations > ACL for different user groups.

    Let me know if there is same issue on your staging website.

    Support is available in tickets and forum here. Tickets are more private channel with support for developer and premium tickets members.

      After I set the permissions manually the registered user is now allowed to see and edit profile .
      The issue is now that when the user clicks on the home icon in the JS toolbar they receive this error message
      0 Call to a member function getAllPages() on bool

      All other tool bar buttons work.

      Please answer directly what i asked previously, is this area private allowing me to add authentication that others will not see?
      If it is not private where do I access ticket area to submit a ticket?

        About the JS issue are you getting it with version 4.8.1?

          I added the super user login credentials for you as requested
          I told you the dev site version were using in the previous message... "The new version 4.4.5 on dev site "

          It is important you read what I write and we get it accurate because there is a 15 hour difference in time and one mistake cost us an entire day.

            Using latest version is part of the support as first step since older version are non compatible and not supported due to older codes and have bugs . It is very hard to apply each fix manually to update and check this is why it always suggested am to use latest version.
            We will check your dev site and update you. If the issue not replicable on latest Jomsocial we have to suggest you to use latest version.

              Updates : I checked site you are using non Compatible Jomsocial version on Joomla 3.10, kindly do the upgrades first as shared in private tickets with steps.

                Where is the Compatibility list I did not find it?

                  I created this menu item https://dev2.piperflyer.org/jomsocial-home-page for JS frontpage
                  which is the Jomsocial homepage i want it to be, the non sef url is index.php?option=com_community&view=frontpage

                  Are you saying that error is because of the incompatible version?

                  If you can tell me how to update JS to 4.8 without losing data I will.

                      Here are the steps :
                      First you have to upgrade Jomsocial to version 4.5.x
                      There are many changes has been done if you moving from older version of Jomsocial.
                      Go through new release blog to see the changes as it will change in UI and message box to live chat.
                      Very Older message will also be removed as they changed with Chat

                            You can go to version 4.5 to 4.6 and so on. Sorry the question skipped. Also if any error on frontend please install further new version.
                            Try it on test site and match the system requirements to meet. The main change from JomSocial 4.5 was Message removed with chat options and it work as new Chat table.

                              1. Ok so I must first do 4.5 then 4.6 until I reach 4.8?
                              2. It does not appear like the error i am receiving was addressed in any of the changelogs for any version, so we dont know if it will address the error but I must do it anyway because it is no longer compatible with Joomla 3.10 amd will need itwhen we upgrade to Joomla 4 ?

                                1. Yes this is for upgrade so you will not have issue in DB. 4.5.x is main change in database structure where the Changes added for Message.
                                2. The Latest version will work for Joomla 3.10 and Joomla 4 both.
