What is the button on the far left of the nav bar?

I just installed JA Edenite II v2.0.0 with T3 v3.0.7, manually over an existing test site and template, intending to convert to Edenite II.
The button on the left is not present in my pre-Edenite site

and when I click on it it opens an empty sidebar

I've gone through the docs and searched the forum, and I'm sure I'm missing something very basic.

Kindly check you have published the Menu type module on position off-canvas and assign it all pages.
The same module will appear inside the sidebar.

Thanks. That fixed the sidebar problem. It now shows the main menu.
Is there a way to get rid of the button completely? It seems unnecessary the way our site is structured.

Never mind, I found it in the documentation. Disable off canvas sidebar.
