How can I use t4_bs5_blank multiple times on a site?

Hello,
On my website I use the template t4_bs5_blank as a basis.
I then want to link menu items to a certain layout.
That's why I went to Extensions / Templates / Templates in the back-end of Joomla 3 .
There I opened t4_bs5_blank.
And clicked Copy template.
I gave the template a new name and linked that newly copied template to certain menu items.

In another topic I read that I can only use the original t4_bs5_blank template because otherwise it will no longer be recognized by the update system as an official template.

Is that right?
I don't notice any difference between the original template and the copied template.

The JA Extension Manager simply lists the copied template as the original template and also offers the update for the copy.

Who can explain to me if I'm using a good method?

What you do with the template is ok. As long as you are not changing anything in the core code of the template or the framework you can make use of the updates.

In template style options you have Profile option for each main settings.
For example in different template style you can duplicate the Layout with different name and use them.
In case of the Mega menu as well
Go To navigation settings in template style > copy the default navigation profile with a new name and save

On Template you can change the copyrights information to your own, a complete rename of product mean it no longer JA product, It is also more a compliment to Developer for their hard work on templates to use name and copyright. But yes Copyright is optional.

I can create a copy of the default in:
Site settings
Navigation
Theme color
Layout settings

But how can I assign those copies to specific menu items?
In that option I can only choose for the template style. t4_bs5_blank.

When you open template style you can save as copy to make duplicate template style
Or You can select the template style via template manger and make duplicate as well :

The way you describe is exactly how I always did it.
It seemed in another topic for a while that this method would ensure that the copy would no longer be recognized as an original template by JA's update system.
Fortunately, that is not the case.

Hi
This is copy of template style only not copy of files with different name. With this method it still use the same template name as before.
