Hi,
Some Shape 5 websites don't support PHP8, the site wont load. You need besides the vertex updater and plugins or extensions to update the whole template. Problem is when you update the template you loose all your settings made in Vertex.
If anyone wants to upgrade their Shape 5 website to PHP8 I strongly suggest to make a backup with Akeeba and work on that to update all items first on a local machine using Mamp Pro or something like that.
Make sure you screenshot or write down the Vertex settings, it saves a lot of hassle and time. Also make a copy from your custom.css file to be sure you loose nothing.
Not really fun to update like this. But at the end it's worth it. GTMetrix score now A-A grade. Besides that PHP7 support will end November 2022.
Why is the Vertex updater (and plugins/extensions) not enough to make the Shape 5 sites PHP8 ready?
Kind regards,
