In JomSocial it says to disable default user registration.
I disable it, and then somehow it turns itself back on?

I wanted to make JomSocial invite only and so guests can request invite. But these options stay disabled while default registration won't.

Plus somehow members are still accessing default joomla profile edit. I don't understand how

For invite option it required to disable the User Registration.
Once it is turned on in the JomSocial it must be turned off in Joomla as well.
Go to User Manager > options > Allow Registration > set it to No.
Once it saved only then the option in JomSocial will work.
