Updating site and template to Joomla 4

My site is an extensive News website that has been using the News 2 template for years. I will soon update it to Joomla 4, but not sure how to do that update. If I update the site to Joomla 4 with the existing Joomla 3 template, that likely won't work. But, I can't install the Joomla 4 version of News 2 until I've updated the site to Joomla 4.

How do I make this update to the template?

GK News 2 is ready for Joomla 4 so you can update to Joomla 4.

But make sure that not only template but you also need to check the compatibility of all extensions on your site are also ready for J4. I recommend you to clone your site to a local / test environment and test the upgrade there first.

When updating to J4, it has 'pre-check' step so you can know which extensions are ready for J4 or not.
