I'm working to get my site squared away for another year until J3's end of life. I'm very sad that JA Mitius is getting left behind. It's still a very cool template that could have new life in J4. I hope you'll reconsider, if only to keep this long-running website online for many more years to come.
To keep it maintained for now, here's what I'm looking at:
1) I have successfully updated it to J3.10.10. I have all of the Joomlart modules and plugins updated and seemingly functioning properly.
2) I probably need to update the site to use PHP 8 or better, since 7.4 is also past end of life. When I tried updating the site to use PHP 8 via cPanel, however, it broke the site completely. Any advice you can give me here is greatly appreciated.
3) Apparently, I didn't know then what I know now about modifying templates (using styles and overrides, etc), because when I tried updating the JA Mitius template to 1.2.0, everything breaks. Not just cosmetic stuff, but ALL of the content disappears completely.
The site is also incorrectly showing that its version 1.0.7 installed -- and that its the latest version available!? -- rather than 1.1.9, which I believe I updated to quite a while back, at so I thought. (See forum thread here: https://www.joomlart.com/forums/d/33153-ja-mitius-bug-after-upgrade-to-1-1-9-running-under-php-7/14 )
If it weren't for the strange bug mentioned in the previous paragraph, I'd be tempted to leave everything alone at 1.1.9 (assuming it IS at 1.1.9), as we're not using Acymailing for anything. Unless there are other security issues to consider?
While I can fix the background image and logo issues (css & simple design elements) if I must, the missing content is something I can't seem to figure out. You may have fixed this issue in the previous forum thread above, but I can't seem to make it work.
Or maybe the site REALLY IS running Mitius 1.0.6 (not just a header error?), and there are stepped-updates I need to make so the site doesn't break?
As always, your time and expertise are greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Matt
