Blog layout won't go in two columns

I am having a hard time getting the blog layout to work in this template. I started with the quickstart for Joomla 4.1.4 and then upgraded to Joomla 4.1.5, as well as the T4 plugin and ACM module, and that's when the issue came up.

Here is a screenshot from your demo page of a blog, clearly showing two columns:

and after making sure my settings were the same as what is in the quickstart package, here is what I am getting, only one column:

How can this be fixed? I want one main intro article, and then 6 articles in two columns, as in your demo.

It seems to be issue in Joomla 4, I've reported to our team to get it fixed.

I thought the issue was a Joomla 4 issue, but I have the same issue with another site which is a Joomla 3 site. The template is JA Landscape, and the one thing they both have in common is the T4 plugin.

Here is a link to the existing website in Joomla 3, https://gov.perrycountytn.com. This is a JA Landscape template.

Perry County TN Government is a blog page which demonstrates the blog feature is no longer populating the page in two columns.

The website in this ticket I opened was in Joomla 4, https://test.cityofclifton.com. This is a JA Resort template. And City of Clifton dev site is a blog page which also no longer is populating the blog page in 2 columns as set in the template. I double checked my menu item settings in both sites to make sure I had set it for 2 columns. And I had.

So I don't think this is a Joomla issue, but a Joomlart issue since it is happening in both Joomla 3 and Joomla 4 sites. They are different templates, different Joomla versions, but same T4 plugin. Can you ask your team to recheck how they came to the conclusion it was a Joomla 4 issue?

I just discovered I have another site built in Joomla 3 with JA template Landscape, same as the gov.perrycountytn.com website, but it IS in two columns. I checked the settings and didn't see anything different in them, and they are both using the same version of the T4 plugin.

I really don't understand this at all. I just want to get back to two columns, whether it is Joomla 3.10.10 or 4.x.

It's actually a bug in the override of template for J4.

I updated this file: /templates/ja_resort/html/com_content/category/blog.php

By changing this line:

if (empty($this->columns)) $this->columns = 1;

to:

if(version_compare(JVERSION, '4.0', 'ge')) {
	// init columns value if not set	if (empty($this->columns))
	$this->columns = $this->params->get('num_columns', 1);
}

Yes! That fixed it, and I am very grateful. Can I just make the changes as you stated them above, if I am working in another JA template with Joomla 4?

Also, this of course doesn't help the gov.perrycountytn.com site where the issue still exists in a Joomla 3 site, using JA Landscape. I'll open up a ticket with that site's info and go from there.

Yes, you can apply the same if there is issue with this override in template.
