Megafilter layout

I'm struggling to understand how the layout for megafilter works, and how to change it. Can anyone help?

Two things:

1)
I've implemented new fields in Listing Fields (where phone, email, social media icons, etc, are) and want to display them on the grid of filtered items.
Looking at html/layouts/jamegafilter/content/grid/product-item,php:

How do I include field contents (and calculations based on these) from etc/extrafields/listing.xml ?

2)
How do I remove "Position" from the "Sort By" dropdown on the megafilter toolbar? I never want to display the items in the position they were entered in to the back end, which is the default for megafilter. See attached image.

Hi astring

1 -- By default, JA Megafilter loads the custom fields in filter configuration only, not extra fields. Let me check if it can be done.

2 -- You can go to filter configuration and select a field to sort by default:

Then if you want to remove the 'Position' sort option, you can go to file:

/components/com_jamegafilter/views/default/view.html.php

Comment / remove this line (130) of code:

$sorts[] = array('field' => 'position', 'title' => JText::_('JPOSITION'));

Actually had to change that line, rather than comment it out, to:

$sorts[] = array('field' => 'name', 'title' => JText::_('JTITLE'));

(Having added JTITLE to the language file).
otherwise the filter on the front page (Hero position) doesn't show up.
