Menu Item Alias is producing an error in Joomla 4

Hi there,

we are recently updating all our Joomla sites to Joomla 4.
I just found out that there seems to be a bug with the "menu item alias" menu type and your Simplicity template.

As soon as I configure any menu item in the main menu as "Menu item Alias", the frontend breaks and I get the following error:

Cannot access protected property Joomla\CMS\Menu\MenuItem::$params

If I disable the Simplicity template and use as default the Cassiopeia, the error dissapears and the site is functional again.

I would really appreciate your help to solve this issue, as we have a lot of menu items configured as "menu item alias" and it would be a huge work to change all of them, to make the site work under Joomla 4.

I have found annother problem, which seems to be related to the simplicity template.

When you log in and you are redirected to the users profile the frontend breaks and you get the following error:

500 - behavior::tooltip not found.

Activating the standart Cassiopeia Teemplate makes the error disapear.

Not sure if the this is related to the Menu Item Alias problem.

I know your team is working hard to mantain all templates up to date, and the last thing I would like to do is rush you in any way. But can you maybe get me an estimated time when this will be solved in order that i can inform my clients?

Problem 1 is solved, thank you very much.

But problem 2 is still there. With your template it is not possible to access the users profile page, we only get an "500 - behavior::tooltip not found" error.

To reproduce this, you just need to log in with the super user credentials I detailed above on the frontend and click on "Mein Konto". Can you check?

Hi Cssmagican,

it worked for the edit profile page. Once you have agreed to the GDPR rules and saved the profile the same error appears.

I have done it with your super admin credentials, so that you can log in again to reproduce the new error.
