Hi,
I recently installed Athena on my existing website. I am having several errors.

The dropdown menus on my home page do not drop down.
Creating a custom palette and assigning it to a section does not change the link colors as desired, the seem overridden by the theme.

the page can be viewed at jecls.org (the template is currently not applied to this page)

This is a problem on my live site. Please use the template ja_athena - home and assign it to menu LS Main item LS Home to see the problem.

To try out the look and features of the template, I created a demo site to preview what I want it to look like. That site is at https://shaindyp.sg-host.com/athena/. You can see the setting assigned to the topbar in the photo below
As you can see, the links and rollover should be white, but on the live page they revert to the theme settings of black and pink.

I just assigned ja_athena - home to home menu item of your site and the dropdown of menu shows fine:

I check the layout but it seems that you've not used topbar yet. Could you check again?

You assigned it to the wrong menu item, which should have been LS Main
which would have displayed as jecls.org (via mightysites) not the homepage for thejec.org
However, I tried it again this morning and the drop downs seem to work. I changed nothing, but that is very weird, as I did this multiple times and it never worked.

As you can see in the screenshot, topbar IS applied to THAT page
however the links to do not conform to the "primary palette" that is applied. Links and text should be white as seen in the previous post.
(for some reason this was switched back to defualt)

I have assigned the template to that page LS Home, in menu LS Main, which is viewed at jecls.org so please log in with the above credentials and see if you can figure out the palette issue with the topbar menu. Thanks.

I can see the topbar now and it's true that template has some styles for link in topbar so it overrides the palette you set:

.t4-topbar .navbar .navbar-nav li a {
    color: var(--heading-color);
    font-size: 0.8125rem;
    font-weight: 400;
    padding: 0;
}

For this case, you can override this rule by your custom CSS:

.t4-topbar .navbar .navbar-nav li a {
    color: your_color_here !important;
}

Thank you, it seems to work. For the future, (as I am not very comfortable with CSS), is there an easier way to integrate this into the interface? Or can I change the template setting to allow the palette to override the template?

This is special style added by template so I think there is not option to configure this. You can add the custom CSS into 'custom.css' file of template so it will not be affected when updating new version of template.
