What is the suitable extension to use for certain case of managing user groups

I need to manage (user groups) so that when a user REGISTER for my website, he can choose what user group he wants to be in (of course they must be custom groups, not Joomla default ones for security reasons, and they are needed only for Access Control of front end content). Then according to their choice, he/her will be able to access whatever is available for their group.
Is there any JA Extension that can do this?
I need some quick advice, dear brothers
