Can not upload image into the page

navigate to

in the text area for the page body/contents, there is an icon to upload an image, next to the insert link button.
(see uploaded picture).
click on this , pick up any image from your PC and try to upload.
it hangs with the green line forever.
any help please?

It's weird as I just tried to insert an image and it worked normally: http://208.74.179.111/index.php/literatura/stranitsy-vsekh/edit.html?pageid=4

But that doesn't work for me (as well as for any other user). I am uploading a file from my laptop into the page. File size is within the limits of the site (<5MB). system just hangs. Tried as user, and as super admin user - the same hangs.

sasha_nomer Could you try to clear cache of browser or try with private window and see how it goes? or try with another browser.

saguaros Tried. cleared cache in mozilla, and tried using chrome. The same story - hangs on upload. It looks like some kind of permission, could be on unix level? Do you know exactly which .php file is doing this upload and in what place in the code? Do you know where the uploaded image suppose to land on the server? For example, I can change the page avatar (this is always working) and I know that avatars are being stored after upload into /images/avatar/page/ directory.

I noticed that it started to work on my dev server. Can you share the scope of changes, so I can implement them on production? I noticed that images are being put into /images/comments/ directory on the host server. But that doesn't help, on prod this directory exists with the same permissions as on dev but still no go. please share the light. thank you.

more research on this problem leads to SSL. there are two identical servers and two identical installations of the same site with jomsocial. the only difference is that dev server works over http while prod works over SSL. and upload works on dev and doesn't work on prod (hangs). If you can shed any light on the why this happens. It would be a solution. Please note that upload of images is the only function which hangs on prod. everything else works, including upload of page avatars. I hope I am not the first with this strange problem who is looking for help. thank you.

Thank you for attempts to help. It looks like the matter is not with SSL , because dev server is not loading images into the pages either.
Hence, I cloned production --> to dev again, so they are identical, and I created users 'saguaros' and 'jatest' as they where prior
(passwords are set to the prior values). Hope this "refresh" from prod will help with further investigation as to why the images upload is not working. I think it is related to some kind of permissions. Please note, that a Registered user can not create a review for the other user page! Could this be related? I.e. the Create Review button is not simply shown when I press on stars to create a review. see the picture.
Or it is a different matter entirely? thank you!

Hi,
To fix the upload issue, you need to change the access level of your home page to Public. Joms Ajax uploading doesn't have a specific menu, so it uses the home page menu. If you restrict the home page to only guests, it will cause permission denied errors.

Bravo! thanks! That solved it. This thread can be closed. I will open another thread for the non-working reviews problem. got to be some kind of permissions issue as well... Marvelous!
