I looked at the Simpli update path and it says: http://update.joomlart.com/service/tracking/j31/ja_simpli.xml while the site runs on J4. This /j31/ doesn't look right, is there a way to change this? Rebuilding the Update sites doesn't help.

It's just directory name only, that's correct version which works fine in both Joomla 3 and Joomla 4 version.
