I just updated my site to Joomla 4.2.9 from 3.11. Running php 8.0.22.
Update went fine except for two problems:
1) Category Blog menu item is not recognizing number of columns. Always comes out as single column. One place where this is visible is https://www.dev.hearthstonehealthandfitness.com/why-hearthstone/results.

2) s5_box seems to be attempting to open a box on each page, it flashes up and then disappears.

note on the ftp above, be sure to go to dev.hearthstonehealthandfitness.com.

    sneadm Hi

It seems to be issue in J4, I've reported to our dev team for further checking, kindly wait.

    Hi

I installed an update for S5 Box module on your site, you can clear browser's caches and check again.

    mod-s5-box.zip

That solved the S5Box module. Still looking for solution to category blog not respecting number of columns parameter.
I'm going to copy up to production site, you can apply fix there using same credentials. Give it a couple hours.

    Hi Mark,

With the number of columns issue in blog page, we will release new version of S5 Fitness Center template tomorrow, you can update to fix the issue.

If you want to update now, you can backup this css file: /templates/fitness_center/css/template.css

and replace with attached file (unzip first)

    templatecss.zip

      That solved it - thank-you!

There is still one small problem with the box module. When you first open a box, the "X" does not appear in the upper right corner to close the box. Hitting 'esc' then reopening the box shows the "X".

It's quite weird, I will check and get back to you.

        Hi, sneadm

After debugging, I found that your site had some customization on the s5box element, so I wrote some custom code to address the issue. The code is located in line 28-42 of the file modules/mod_s5_box/js/jquery-scripts.js.

Please check the site again and let me know if everything is working well now.

        Regards,

That solves it although I'm not sure why I have what looks like custom code. Earlier work on the other issues with s5box saguaros said he replaced the whole module. I just don't want it to break again by running an update.

        Thanks,
        Mark

          Hi Mark,

This update is applied for module only, you can update template normally, it will not affect module 🙂

          Hi, sneadm
You can safely update a new module for any update later and it will work stably. I handled it as the improvement for some other elements.
          Regards,
