How to update BuddyPress permalink structure

I am new to using GavicPro WordPress. I installed the GK University WP theme. I get this BuddyPress message:
"BuddyPress is almost ready. You must update your permalink structure to something other than the default for it to work."

Please advise me on how to update my permalink structure to something other than "default".

One more thing...When I installed the University Quickstart, it automatically Published the theme, and the website theme became visible to the world. How do I unpublish the University theme without deleting it? Please advise.

Hi silbano,

you can go to the Dashboard > Settings > Permalink then select the Default option and click the save button.
You should install the maintenance plugin.

There is no "default" button/option, it is set to "Plain". The systems message I received is: "BuddyPress is almost ready. You must update your permalink structure to something other than the default for it to work." The system wants me to change the setting to something else. I went ahead and selected the "Post name" option and clicked on the "Save Changes" button. I guess this will work. I do not know what else to do. Please advise.
I installed the maintenance plugin. Thank you for suggesting that.
