I am following directions I found on ionos . com

I have arrived at the "Install Joomla" button and pressed it. There was a flash that I suspect was the Joomla icon, and then nothing.

I waited about 5 minutes, then pressed the button again. In further research, I found that multiple button presses can cause issue, so I don't know if I just didn't wait long enough, or if there was some other issue. I also don't know how to fix whatever damage is done by hitting the install button too many times.

I have installed XAMPP, and have both Apache and MySQL highlighted green.
I have created a database, and the name I gave it shows up on the database list at localhost/phpmyadmin
I have followed the steps that appeared when I typed localhost/FolderName all the way to the install button, first using the database type MySQLi and when that didn't seem to have an affect, I tried again with the database type MySQL (PDO)
And now I am typing this message.

any hints or advice on what I did wrong, and how to rectify that, will be appreciated.
