For a while now, we no longer receive notifications when a new post is posted on the timeline. Friendship requests we do receive. In the mail and user settings, all notifications are on. Are there any other settings we can check ?

Make sure that you're using latest version of Jomsocial and pls renew your membership as support & update for commercial products like Jomsocial are available for active member only.
And so we did, membership renewed and upgrade to the latest JomSocial version. Our notifications on the site (globe) or emails are still not there. Can you give us some advice?

I checked again and there will be no notification for new post unless you tag someone, he/she will receive notification.

Nope, I mean that with a new post from the main stream, it will not send email notification, but if you tag someone, he/she will receive email notification.
So a direct message to a member (without tagging) no longer sends a notification like it used to?
I thought you're referring to the notification in main stream activity, if there is new wall post on your profile, of course, there will be still email notification sent to you.
I mean this one, we used to be notified with an email and there was something next to the globe.
webmasteralfaspider I can't access your site now, you can go to Backend >> Components >> JomSocial >> Configuration >> Privacy >> Default User Email & Notifications and enable Email + Notifications you wish.
Only "approve event creation" is not checked.
