News Modules doesn't work on Home Page & URL rewriting doesn't work

For some reason when I use the Latest News or Featured News modules on the Home Page, the links don't point to the article and redirects back to the Home Page. However, the modules work fine on other pages. I have even tried just reassigning a functioning module from my News & Other Events page to the Home Page and it still doesn't work.
Also, the URL rewriting doesn't work. I can't get rid of the index.php even when I manually change it in the cpanel. Not sure if using SecuritycheckPro has anything to do with it?

I guess these articles are not assigned to any menu item so that when you click to open, it will open in current page. The homepage of your site may not include component block so nothing displays there.

You can create a new menu item (maybe a hidden menu item if you don't want to show on frontend) and assign these articles (or category these articles belong to) to this new menu item, it will redirect to correct detailed article page.

This is default behavior of Joomla.
