"Error" Message - On Site and Site Admin. Page

I use the Light Church template for our website. I've had trouble upgrading to Joomla 4 due to an issue with Shape 5 Flex Menu.

Last week I tried to create a sandbox of our church site (www.FBCFalun.org) so I could test upgrading it from Joomla 3.10.12 to Joomla 4 using the Shape5 Flex Menu plugin for Joomla 4. I used Akeeba back up to make a back up.

I tried using Akeeba to copy www.FBCFalun.org to public_html/FBCJ3J4Test. That did not work. Akeeba says there's a part missing (this is a different issue than my main problem). www.FBCFalun.org points to this folder public_html/FBCFalunORG. www.FBCFalun.org is not the main domain name on our Hostmonster.com account. It is an addon domain. I have a Joomla 4 site running on the main domain name as a place to practice.

After attempting to make a sandbox copy of FBCFalun.org in "public_html/FBCJ3J4Test" our website (FBCFalun.org) returned "Error" whenever trying to access the frontend or backend of the site.

I made no changes to any files in the folder public_html/FBCFalunORG, other than creating the Akeeba backup of the site.

I have no idea what has happened. After three days of frustration trying to get the Akeeba backup to install in public_html/FBCJ3J4Test and on another addon domain we have (www.FBCFalun.COM) located at public_html/FBCFalunCOM**** I need help figuring out what caused www.FBCFalun.org to stop working.

As I said, I did not make any changes that I know of to any files in public_html/FBCFalunORG. So I am at a loss.

How did you proceed to copy your live site?

Basically, you should install Akeeba backup component + take a backup there, then restore that backup file in the test site.

You better post the same topic to Akeeba backup support forum as this relate to their product.

Sorry for the delay in responding.

There was an issue with PHP versions working with CiviCRM. Once I switched to PHP 7.4 I could open the front end.

However, after entering the backend of the site still wasn't working. The admin login page loaded normally, but when I tried logging in I received another error messaige.

The error message which only appeared when using PHP 7.4 pointed to a problem with CiviCRM. Checking the settings.civicrm.php files in administrator and components I saw that restoring the site did not update the db name, username, or password. After correcting these I was able to access both the front end and backend of the site.
