Hi all, this is my first post, apologies if I don't get all the procedures correct this first time. I've taken over a website project for a non-profit (the team consists entirely of volunteers) and I'm trying to get the project upgraded from Joomla 3 to 4. As such, I'm trying to make sure our template and framework are up-to-date before upgrading the site, so I attempted to use JA Extension manager update service, but I get errors about extensions being invalid:

I can see that this is an error that's been posted about before, but for some reason I can't read the replies in those discussions (error about needing a subscription?)

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

    cairseattle Hi

A quite old template, if you've not customized template much, you can backup your site + download latest version of template and install into your site.

    Remember to backup first.

Thanks so much for getting back to me! You're right, the template is quite old and as far as I understand was not regularly updated before I joined the project. Is there a way to tell how much customization has taken place on the template? It wasn't documented anywhere, but I worry that it might be significantly customized.

Also, I'm quite certain this is not a best practice, but could it be possible to move to Joomla 4 without updating the template? That way, we could spend additional time auditing the site (to determine just how much customization has taken place) without needing to worry about Joomla 3 no longer being supported.

cairseattle You can clone your live site to a test / staging site and try to install latest version for template and T3 framework there and see how it goes.

This is done by your side, we can't control how much you customized 😉

cairseattle but could it be possible to move to Joomla 4 without updating the template?

Everything need to be available for Joomla 4 (not just template) before updating to Joomla 4 so your site can run properly.
