GK Events Joomla 4 Quickstart not working

The Quickstart installation does not work - it installs a completely unusable site, none of the functionality in the demo/description is there. Am I missing an installation step?? (if so, would be nice to have SOME at least basic documentation...)

Quickstart Installation doesn't work on my end either, yes it's the weekend and probably no answer till Monday and the earliest.

Update 1 - I finally broke down and REINSTALLED the GK Royal Quickstart interface, and this time it finally worked. Guessing it was missing a file or something during upload and unpacking the first time. Either way, finally got mine working so I can test it out.

It's weird as I just downloaded and installed the quickstart package of GK Events template but it shows exactly the same as our demo site. Here are steps I proceeded:

1/ Download Quickstart package for Joomla 4 here: https://www.joomlart.com/member/downloads/gavick/joomla-templates/events

2/ Upload this package and extract to folder of your site and install - It's the same as installing a Joomla package.

here is the result at my end:

You can see it looks the same as our demo site: https://events.demo.gavick.com/

An important note is that this quickstart package is used for a new website only. It could not be used for an existing site. So if your site is new, you can remove the current installation >> follow above steps again and make sure that you download correct package and all files are uploaded / extracted correctly.

Is there ZERO fucking support here??? Makes me want to puke that I paid for the subscription.

That is EXACTLY what I did. It is a brand new domain, brand new website, nothing else installed. Downloaded "GK Events for Joomla 4", unzipped the file without issues and then went to the site to install. Not working.
Which php version are you using?

I found the problem - the template ONLY WORKS ON A NOT SUPPORTED, END OF LIFE PHP VERSION!!!

PHP 8.0 and above are supported and the template WILL NOT WORK with these versions. PHP 7.4 has been END OF LIFE beginning of the year and the last update date of March 2023 for this template clearly shows that the developers are 100% clueless what they are doing - 7.4 IS VULNERABLE, NOT SUPPORTED ANYMORE.

WHAT A FRIGGING LIE !!!! I tried ALL versions from 8.0 to 8.2 and NONE of these work with the template.

And to be perfectly clear, if ANY of the developers even did some BASIC testing, they would have seen the HUGE message in the control panel, that they have an EOL/UNSUPPORTED PHP version in use - OR THEY WOULD HAVE REALIZED THAT THEY DID NOT FIX ANYTHING IN THE TEMPLATE.

Last, but not least, neither K2 nor any event management modules are being installed with the quickstart. A complete clusterfuck.

saguaros: If it is all the same, show me the https://events.demo.gavick.com/index.php/event/events-3 page on your installation.... I suggest you click one or two additional links or look at the admin panel before making your stupid claims...

We're aware of PHP 7.x end of life and we updated our products to PHP 8.x already.

I'm using PHP 8.1, it's weird that it's not working on your site, you can share me the URL + Super admin account + FTP account of your site, I will check it directly for you.

Some pages on our demo site like EVENTS, SPEAKERS, SPONSORS ... are K2 content, the problem is that K2 is not ready for Joomla 4, we've been waiting for them for such a long time but it's not updated for Joomla 4 yet. However, other customers want the template ready for Joomla 4 so we decided to update our template to Joomla 4 without K2 and that's why you don't see these menu items in the quickstart package for Joomla 4 of this template. If you want to use K2, you can install quickstart package of Joomla 3.

With above issue of PHP 8.x, kindly share the login info so I can help you out.

This is like telling somebody who bought a car "yes, we know that there is no engine in the car, but people buy it because they like the shiny paint" - you realize how idiotic this is, right? Also, showing a demo version with all the functionality, simply because it is running on end of life Joomla and end of life PHP versions clearly shows the intent to deceive your customers.

I appreciate the K2 explanation, but again, why is this not being mentioned in the template description? There is plenty of space to simply say "does not work / provide any functionality on current Joomla/PHP versions". I get it that this is the problem with over 90% of your templates, but getting people to pay for a subscription to get the templates, just to realize that none of them (at least the ones I was looking at) work as advertised, is almost criminal.

I removed the installation and move to a different template provider who does not play pathetic games like this.

I asked team to re-export the package of Quickstart and template for GK Events template. Please try it a try by downloading the quickstart package and install again.

We've done testing with different versions of PHP 8 and it works properly.

If you still have issue, you can share your hosting panel + login info, I will install for you.

You just wrote yourself that K2 (the most important part of the GK EVENTS template) is not available in a Joomla version that is not end of life - so why do you now claim the template is working? You know that it is not and never will and that the demo site and description of the template and its functionality is simply not true - is that too complex to understand?

All the information and description are created for template from the beginning when template was implemented for Joomla 2.5 & Joomla 3.x. The same for the demo site. And there are pages on this template are built with K2 component.

When Joomla 4 comes out, we try our best to upgrade almost of our templates to Joomla 4 but there are templates still be pending due to the 3rd party extensions are not ready for Joomla 4 like K2 in this case, we're awaiting for their update for quite a long time but still not news on this. However, other clients still want to have this template available in Joomla, even without K2 so we upgraded it to Joomla 4 without K2.

Joomla 3 security support has been extended as announcement here so if you want to have full features for this template, you can try the Joomla 3 version.
