JA Extension Manager Component error in Joomla 5

Trying to install JA Space into a fresh Joomla 5 setup.

Have tried the JA Space for Joomla 5 with no success. Simple no sample data is available to install. All the JA extensions need to be discovered and the JA Extension Manager Component doesn't work.
Tried instead run a completely fresh official Joomla 5.0.1 package and then install the JA extensions individually. They all install properly, but again the JA Extension Manager Component presents the same error:

`An error has occurred.

42 42P01, 7, ERROR: relation "#_jaem_services" does not exist LINE 1: SELECT * FROM #_jaem_services AS t WHERE 1 ORDER BY t.ws... ^ `

* I have replaced the DB prefix for a # in the error message

Server: Apache
PHP: 8.2.13
Database: postgresql 14.3*

I have tried MySQL, but unfortunately most hosts do not provide MySQLi 8+. MySQLi 5.7 ins't compatible with J5 which doesn't even install.

Is there anything I could do to have the quickstart for Space for Joomla 5 working or how to get the JA Extension Manager Component
working to update the other extensions?

Could you contact your host for support MariaDB 10.4+?

No, SiteGround only offers MySQL and PostgreSQL which is considered a good option and listed in the system requirements for Joomla 5.

Aren't the JA templates and extensions compatible with PostgreSQL?

Our templates can work with PostgreSQL when you install with fresh Joomla 5 like this, but our extensions are not compatible with PostgreSQL due to its old queries. I believe a great hosting service should ideally support multiple database types such as MySQLi, MariaDB, and PostgreSQL. Hence, I suggest you to reach out the hosting provider again for assistance in enabling support for other DB types instead of forcing to use PostgreSQL only. I think it's simple setup via server side.

saguaros They say it isn't. Ideally I want them to update MySQL to v8, but SiteGround say it is a very difficult job and won't put a time frame on it.

I have discussed this with other developers and they actually recommended me to use PostgreSQL over MySQL anyway going forward to Joomla 5 and it is a viable DB according to the Joomla project.

When you say that your extensions aren't compatible with PostgreSQL can you be more specific and name those that won't work? Will the plugins and specially templates and modules be ok?
The JA Extension Manager is super nice, but the updates of the JA templates, plugins and modules can be done directly from Joomla anyway or even downloaded again and installed on top.

When you install Joomla fresh and install template, the template will work fine. But with extension like JA Extension Manager, it has queries that are not working with PostgreSQL so it will have issue, the same with our modules & plugins.

It's weird that other great hostings support MySQLi & MariaDB 🙂

Thanks for your answer and I agree that they should offer an updated version of all three DBs that Joomla supports.
This website is a first Joomla 5 trial (or many to come next year) and I will test your template to see how it goes. If needed be I'll update the queries and be careful when those extensions get an update.

But my question to you is now another. On your template system requirements PostgreSQL 9.1+ is clearly listed. Considering that most of your templates also make use of your modules and are dependant on them, should you consider updating these queries so that they can work with all databases supported by Joomla?

Yes, it should be. However, as you know our extensions were implemented very long time ago, to support PostgreSQL, we will need to revamp the queries so it can work with MySQL/MariaBD/PostgreSQL. I've shared with the team to update this but it will take time.

For now, if you want to test Joomla 5 + our template/extensions, please try to install it in local environment and see how it goes. Or consider to move to a new host.

About the system requirements in the document of template, as I mentioned in my above reply, when you install Joomla, then install template, it will work well with PostgreSQL, the issue comes from extensions though 🙂

Thanks for your answer. This is what I will do:
This is a development site in a dev environment. I want to test Joomla 5 PostgreSQL on this site and will go ahead with JA-Space. I can write extensions and have done templates, components, modules and plugins for Joomla 2.5, 3 and 4. I don't think 5 will be much different. I will get this website working without hurry and fix the things that need to be addressed.
At this stage I think your JA Masthead Module and JA Advanced Custom Module are the extensions that might need some attention. I'll fix those and see how it goes.

Do you want to keep informed on the development of this site? I really wouldn't mind passing to you guys the changes I make to these modules (maybe the component too) so that I don't have to patch them every time they get updated.

avocom I've forwarded to our team but to be honest, we're in pressure of updating our products to Joomla 5 for our large collection of products so I don't think it will be done soon. If you can share your updates for community, it would be great. We appreciate that!
