Hide Read More text

On the Category Blog layout, I want to show the Read More text, but when the article is opened, how can the read more is hidden?

Hi Dominic.
My site is hosted locally - still under development.

I have a menu showing a category blog. I want the articles to be listed with their Intro text when opening that menu. But when visitors click on one of the article listed, that page won't show the Intro text.

I have set the articles to hide the Intro Text, while the category blog menu is set to show the Intro text. I also tested it the other way, i.e. setting the articles to show the intro text, while the menu item is set to hide the intro text. No matter how I set the options, the intro text still shows on the page.

I found this code in the "default.php" file in the "\templates\ja_purity_iv\html\com_content\article" folder.

<div class="desc-article"> <?php echo $this->item->introtext; ?> </div>

I tweaked it into the following code, but I don't know the variable that holds the value for the show/hide option.

<div class="desc-article"> <?php if ($this->item->hide_introtext !== 1) { echo $this->item->introtext; } ?> </div>
