Can someone please clearly explain how the template styles (Home, Pages, etc.) and their relationship with the layouts (default, home, page, etc.) as it makes zero sense at all to me.

When I make a change to one type of page, it is breaking the layouts on other pages, and vice versa. When I save a layout for a page, it often doesn't show on the frontend. I am not understanding at all the relationship between the two and quite frankly it seems way over complicated the way the builder works.

If I set a layout to a page, that page should show on the frontend with that layout, however most times it does not and in many cases it will break the layout of a completely different page.

The builder and the relationships between style and layouts is way too complicated and not making sense. I am fixing one layout, only to have another page layout break. This thing makes zero sense. Is there any decent documentation available on how the T3 framework actually works and how to have a layout style for some pages, but not all pages, that doesn't just break stuff?

I am getting so frustrated with the unclear way in which the builder works.

    1option Hi

You submitted this post in JA Podcast template so I guess you're using JA Podcast template now. This template is built with T4 framework, not T3.

With the layout issue you're experiencing, I guess that you're using the same layout for multiple template styles which are being assigned to other pages as well so when you edit the layout, it will affect those pages.

Please check the template style that is assigned to that page and see which layout it's using. If you want to use different layouts for different pages, thanks to T4, you can easily clone an existing layout to have a new one, pls check out this documentation for how to manage layouts: https://www.joomlart.com/documentation/t4-framework/layout-builder#layout-selection_jadoc

In case that you still have issue on this, you can share the URL of page that has issue and super admin account + tell me how you want to achieve, I will check for you.

So to clarify, I have to manually create a new layout for every single page and from there, any time I want to make an edit to a page layout, I have to load the builder and then load the specific layout for that specific page? I

noticed it does NOT load the associated layout with a page automatically, so I have to manually make sure the correct layout is loaded every single time I want to make any edits to single page?

And if I don't do that, it will make changes to the wrong layout. Still so confused on why the builder wouldn't load the associated layout with page.

This is incredibly frustrating and challenging, not to mention, say I want to change the footer module on all pages, I would then have to update every single layout, correct?

All that said, there are many different "styles" on top of the "layouts" you can see why this doesn't make a lot of sense and will become incredibly unusable on a large site that might have many different pages with various styles.

      1option Hi

You have different layouts for different pages on your site? as you can see in our demo site, we offer some layouts only, the default layout for all pages and special layouts for specific pages such as homepage. so you don't need to edit each layout like that.

Actually, I'm not entirely sure of how you want to achieve here, please share the URL + super admin account and clarify the page + layout that you're experiencing so I can have a closer look and suggest you further. It'll be better 🙂
