Issue with Checkout

Just following up on the previous discussion i had about the checkout, what i realized is that at the checkout page when buyer change payment method or shipping method the freeze happens and the only way to continue is to refresh the page then it will work, do you think its compatibility issue or glitch?

I did backup the site and for testing i updated the VM to 4.2.6 which is the latest, what happened was all product images in the front end were stretched and looking weird, however i wanted to see if the checkout process issue will get fixed, and unfortunately its same.

so i believe its template compatibility issue, could you please do some investigation and testing on your end?

if i use different template such as Atoms, will you be able to help get it displayed correctly, hopefully i wont have any issue with Atoms as its newer template and based on T4.

When I enable the debug mode, it notices the error come from the core file of VM:

i think there could be some compatibility issue, because even updating to latest version of VM didnt resolve it, so if its from the VM that means thousands of users who are using VM should face the same issue right?

i will restore the backup which is the older version of VM and Joomla 4 and hopefully you can check it again please.

I have restored the back and now its back to Joomla 4, again the issue is when i hit check out it freezes and doesn't do anything, unless i refresh the page then it will go to the next page.

i remember it used to work with no issue at all, unless we did some changes to the templates and category display thing if you remember, not sure if that affected anything or not.

so its working when refreshing the page, but as you know visitors doesn't know that, they would think the website is down.

kindly investigate.

I just tried to check out and it redirected to the billing page: index.php/shop/account-maintenance/user/editaddresscartBT

Could you clear your browser's caches + cookies and check again?

hi Thanks for your reply, i just tried fresh browser MS Edge which i dont use at all, the issue is still there, basically if you c=dont change the shipping type or payment method, it will go to billing page, but when i change shipping method and hit checkout, that's where it freezes

Please feel free to do any testing, as i have backed up the site.

It looks like the issue of Virtuemart as I assigned this shopping cart page - menu item ID:146 to Cassiopeia template but the same issue happened there 🙁

its been a few months im working and still unable to launch the website 🙁

dmozi313 This issue is from Virtuemart itself so if you'd like to change to another template, I think you need to consider to use another ecommerce extension 🙂

Hi and Thanks for your reply, im still hesitating that it could be compatibility issue between the template and VM, i will try another template just as testing to see if i will have same issue, if it will give me same issue then yes its 100% from VM, if it didnt then its compatibility issue.

because imagine thousands of people using VM that means they all should be complaining now about this, even within JA business, did anyone who using different template, complaint about the same issue?

i purchased membership to start building the site with JA templates, and apparently all your templates are based on VM, would you have any option for me that i can use for my website please?

because if i cant use any template because of this that means i just wasted time and money with no results 🙁 .

I totally understand this but there are various issues of Virtuemart when its updated to Joomla 4. The issues come from its core so nothing can be done from us. We also spent lots of time awaiting for their updates for Joomla 4 but it's not good so far.

With the concept of JA Megastore template, it shows content (products) from Virtuemart in almost parts of site. If you also love the design of JA Atoms template, you can try this template with other ecommerce extension. Make sure that it supports Joomla 5 and PHP 8.x 🙂

Thanks for you kind reply, I did update to Joomla 5 for Megastore but it didn't resolve the issue, because you mentioned it's the issue with Joomla 4, but apparently its also an issue with Joomla 5.

I'm happy to try Atoms on Joomla 5, but it comes with VM too, I don't know how to set it up with other e-commerce extensions, can I have your help please?

Also, should I do fresh installation of Atoms?

Thanks for your reply, I know VM is not ready for Joomla 5 but I updated the VM 4.2.6 which is made for Joomla 5, and the issue still was there.
So I had latest VM and latest Joomla.

I did that for testing to see if the issue is resolved.

What I think is that if the issue was from VM you should have heard others complaining about it, but I think it's compatibility issue.

Anyway I had backup before updating and I have restored the backup which is Joomla 4.

You had the investigation on both Joomla 4 and 5 and couldn't get it fixed.

Now as per your recommendation, I'm happy to start again from scratch with Atoms, but I will need your support to use it with either Hikashop or j2store.

If I do fresh installation of Joomla with one of the extensions, can you help installing the template Atoms and link it to the extension please?

Because if you believe the issue is from VM that means no matter which template I use they all based on VM so I will have same issue.

Kindly need your help here, I spend a few months trying to get this up and running and see how much time I have wasted so far 🙁 .

I hope JA can help me and I really appreciate your support always, even I told my friends to buy and try your templates for their projects.

Just to clarify that I updated Joomla 5 recently after you advised that its an issue with VM with Joomla 4, I did the update to see if that will fix it but it didn't, as you had the chance to investigate too on both Joomla 4 and 5, and unfortunately couldn't find a solution.

If you check my website now you see it's back to Joomla 4 as I had a backup before testing the update.

You know I have been spending more than 3 months time on this and still unable to launch 🙁

here is what i find out, the issue was with Paypal payment method, when i disable it it doesnt freeze anymore, i thought to let you know in case someone else brings it up.

so again i think its compatibility issue with the template as if its the Pyapal plugin itself many people should have faced the same issue.

apparently the template has many issues, so i have to look for different template, if i decide to use Atoms, would you be able to help using it with other extensions such as Hikashop or J2store please?
