Wrong picture in Facebook

When using the article link in facebook, it will show the image of my logo. I would like to make Facebook scrape the Intro image instead. Is that possible?

Hi Niklas,

This sometimes happens with Facebook as that article displays correct image but Facebook notices this error:

Provided og:image URL, https://sittbrunnen.se/images/stories/idalina/sjunker.jpg could not be processed as an image. It may be corrupted or may have an invalid format.

nothing wrong with the image I guess.

If you switch to Cassiopeia template (Joomla standard template), the same issue happens.

With Cassiopeia the facebook debugger givs another error message when rescraping:
Inferred Property
The 'og:image' property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.

It still dont shows any image.
And the image https://sittbrunnen.se/images/stories/idalina/sjunker.jpg is not corrupted or invalid format as you can check yourself. Maybe the extra formats that are beeing added when inserting intro image are causing this?

sittbrunnen That's the weird thing as the open graph image tag is correct, we can view that image URL correctly but somehow facebook still give that error. You may contact Facebook support for further investigation.

Facebook support sucks, I just found a lot of comments from people having the same problem. But I found one answer out there of the problem.

He has a solution on what has to be changed, when you use https, but not where to do it.
My guess is that it lays in the template code, as Cassiopeia made another error message.

As you can see in the image's URL, it's on your domain with secure URL already 🙂

Yes, but the page that Facebook scrapes contain:
<meta property="og:type" content="article">
<link rel="image_src" content="https://sittbrunnen.se/images/stories/idalina/sjunker.jpg">
<meta property="og:image" content="https://sittbrunnen.se/images/stories/idalina/sjunker.jpg">

But Stack overflow says
So you need to change og:image property for your HTTPS URLs to og:image:secure_url

I guess this means the last line should be

and this would be code created by the template.

But I do not know if thew og:image:secure_url will help.
Thought I can see, when i look back on facebook, i find the last one that worked as link on Facebook was an article in July last year.
The full article image link by then says
images/stories/hafsorkestern/aps23/Alltpasjon_2022-50.jpg
Today the full article image link says
images/stories/idalina/sjunker.jpg#joomlaImage://local-images/stories/idalina/sjunker.jpg?width=1078&height=1022

Probably an Joomla or template update, that added information about the image Facebook can´t read.
