Options in column setting?

Im looking at the emplate, I can see this

What is the meaning of each option and how should they be used? some are clear like "position", but each option need to beconfiured or just one and how/why?

Component here is the main content block of a web page on your site. For example, you have a menu item type of 'Single Article' and this component block will show the content of that article on frontend.
Block and Element are built-in feature in the template, for example, when you select 'element', it will show a list of available elements in template so you can select.
