Are there plans to support Webp and other newer recommended image formats?

Could you tell me in details of which part and how you want to use these image formats?
Google's SEO analytics are highly recommending the newer formats as providing much smaller images with same level of quality. Joomla 5 supports them.
In an effort to attain higher ratings in SEO and other evaluations, I would move towards replacing all the images with these formats.
