I just checked on my unmodified (quickstart) copy of the template. The behavior is the same: You cannot edit the column width value that has been preset. You can only set it to auto.
The same is on T4 Framework quickstart.
At this moment I'm trying to change some columns width
One idea was to modify the mainbody columns to increase the width of the article text by removing a sidebar from the layout template.
Another idea is to change the number and size of columns into the footer.
In any case, the aim is to understand if there is a bug in the template or into the framework that is important to report to you.
