I have been in the process of upgrading my site from Joomla 3.10 to Joomla 5.1.3. I'm using new files and a copy of the old database. When I install JomSocial 4.9 it gets stuck after "Add Custom Field" and does not advance any further. Any ideas what to check next?

    I processed each step manually. When I get to the database upgrade it gives me this error:

    0 Call to undefined method Joomla\Database\Mysqli\MysqliDriver::query()

    The database structure in Joomla 5 differs significantly from Joomla 3. I recommend cloning your Joomla 3 site (using Akeeba Backup for a backup and restoration in a new directory) and then updating incrementally from Joomla 3 to Joomla 4, and finally to Joomla 5. This approach ensures a smoother transition and helps avoid potential issues.

        I started the upgrade process over again and it is stuck in the same spot. Can I do something to nudge it past the database update?

        I can manually do the sql updates if needed.

        Do you have test / staging site? kindly share so I can try to install and see how it goes.

        I was able to fix it by creating a completely new site and installing Kunena and JomSocial from scratch so all the databases had the correct structure. Then I found an incredible tool called SP Transfer (https://www.kainotomo.com/products/sp-transfer) that you can use to copy select database tables.

        I was able to copy over all my users and content to the new database.

        This was a life-saver and I hope anyone else with a similar problem can find this helpful!
