Yes, It can be assigned outside the in-built positions available for main-body component area of Jomsocial. Ref: Screenshot wherein I have assigned the specific module at module position - position-7 in default Joomla template and it appears fine

Addressing your query precisely on examining the relative issue, The html attributes for module view output arent showing due to which module is also not being rendered an envisaged.

Can you also add your ftp details in edit fields so as to enable to review the core layout files for specific module

I've updated the ftp details. Btw, the notification part is only one part of the effect I'm trying to achieve on the menu block in mainnav position. I also would like to display the user's avatar plus username, linking to his jomsocial profile, similarly to how it's being done on top right corner of your support forum page.

Kindly confirm if you are looking forward to have something like as seen in Socialize template on the demo page. Ref: Screenshot . Forum support page is powered by other forum engine totally different from Jomsocial component and using varied elements in order to get the view output

I have updated the ftp details. The socialize template comes pretty close as far as the icons go. I just happened to like the look and feel of the JA Social II template, especially on the frontpage, which is why I didn't look any further. Switching templates at this stage of the project would be too hard. Too many style customisations in layouts and css. Anyhow, I'll look into how those jomsocial icons are being created in the header of the socialize template. thanks for the lead.

Update: I had a look at the links provided. However, the names of the module positions on their own don't tell me how to replicate the jomsocial related link icons. I tried logging into the backend, to have a look, but couldn't.

Kindly view this as the forum is Flarum based which is internal project of JoomlArt. I am afraid that getting the exact replica along with functionality of respective section as desired by you should require heaps of customizations as per my knowledge as the same would also require several fragments of coding modifications/inheritance

Apologizes but such feature or customization request as asked by you comes within "limited" scope of the JA forums and should require good sufficient time and would depend upon your coding skills to get the results as envisaged by way of screenshot shown.

Would suggest to kindly hire some developer, designer or agency for the same

I duly understand that switching template isnt an option which would require several changes/customizations and modification to get elements right. I have no need for Flarum. I just like the notification, user avatar/name icon and profile link. This is something the JomSocial team should be able easily to reproduce, providing a much better Joomla-JomSocial integration. In fact, the JomSocial team originally liked the concept themselves well enough to incorporate these kind of features into their Socialize template. However, now, that they are part of Joomlart, the organisation as a whole would be better off to provide that feature to all Joomlart customers, if not every JomSocial subscriber. That would be an important advantage over competing products.

As of currently, We already have JS toolbar module as also shown in earlier screenshot offering most of the features as per Jomsocial with avatar, notification support although, css element styling isnt the same. Would suggest to kindly give it try first to see if it can derive the purpose as sought

You can always let us know if wishing to see additional features so as to consider the same for future versions 🙂

I have bitten the bullet on your suggestion and made the switch to JS Socialize. So far so good, except the latest version of the template no longer comes with the default dark blue style, which is the only style I like respectively goes with the logo. The current style comes close but the menu and footer area are dark. I don't like that at all because it doesn't look friendly enough. I guess I could fiddle around with the custom.css, but that's a lot of work. Can you please provide me with the file for the style? The other problem I'm having is that "Community Toolbar" in the logo block does not get displayed correctly in "head-search" position. In "top-head" position it looks perfect, but that module is too short for the logo.

Good suggestion. I posted my questions on the JomSocial template forum section. However, I still need your help with getting rid of the old logo block Socialize has inherited from the JA Social II.

Kindly check now. Have removed block reference for loading header block from this file --> /tpls/default.php in template "socialize"

Also, Added this to custom.css file in order to position mainnav right:

.t3-mainnav{margin-top:25px;}

Try add this to custom.css file and adjust padding value accordingly :

.t3-community-toolbar li > a{padding-top: 25px !important;}

Great! The icons on the left are now vertically centered. However, the preferences and logout icon still are out of line.

.t3-community-toolbar .navbar-right.navbar-login a > .glyphicon {
    top: -10px;
}

and change to the value which suits your need.
