I have a clean installation of Joomla 4.4.9 with JA Purity IV 1.2.3.
In a menu item set to "Category Blog," the Blog Layout tab does not have an option to select a layout.
In the following image, you can see what I was expecting, as seen in the full demo installation of JA Purity IV. However, in my clean installation, there is no dropdown menu, not even the label "Select Layout Blog."
Can I enable this feature somehow, or is it only available in the demo version of Purity IV?
Exactly the same problem here. Spent hours comparing the two and there appears to be extra code in the demo version that's missing from the clean install.
OK - finally kind of fixed it. I was using an existing menu item. When I created a new menu item using "Category Blog", the missing option appeared.

Perhaps I created the menu item before installing Purity IV. I simply changed the Menu Item Type from 'Category Blog' to 'Single Article' and then back to 'Category Blog,' and the missing option appeared.
