It will related to the access level configuration on your site. By default, most content is set to be viewed publicly, but you can control this in the backend of your site.
For example, if you have a default page with a menu item type: JomSocial >> Frontpage, and you want users to log in to view content (similar to Facebook), you can set the Access level to Registered or another available access level on your site:
When set to Registered, users will be redirected to the login page before accessing the content. You can further configure the login form to redirect users back to the JomSocial frontpage after login.
