Is Using an Old Template Dangerous?

Hello,

I am going to update a website that originated from the old responsive2 template not the buildr one. Do you think there may be any repercussions related to this? Should I be updating the template itself?

I had another site that was using an old template and it got hacked.. that is why I am concerned.

With the hack was everything up to date in regard to Joomla and extensions?
Do you know how the site was hacked?

funny, I did not get an email saying that you had answered this in my email app. Yes, everything had been upgraded php version, joomla, all the extensions, everything other than the template itself. That is why I was asking about upgrading the template itself.

Regarding the template itself we are in the process of updating all of our J3 templates
So if you are able to wait a couple of weeks this template will be updated

However can you update me on my previous question and I can go into more detail

I've not seen any forum threads or tickets or posts generally reporting any security problems with this template version or framework

Did you do an audit of the files compromised?

again no email... the template that was used in the site that was hacked was not the responsive2 template. I was just wondering if using an old template without updating it could be detrimental.. again no email from you please check...

Generally speaking it is best to keep everything up to date but with the framework and template we've never had a security problem so you should be fine

Hi Paul,
You have been busy! Congrats on the new site.

I am using the Rasa2 template. I noticed some of the modules such as ZenTools have new versions. Should I update the modules now, or wait until the new template is updated? Do you know when Rasa2 might be updated?

I am having a sql conflict that I am hoping will be fixed! 🙂

Hi Paul,
I am using ZenTools 1.13.4

The confilict is intermittent. I contacted you a few times with the old site. My top text scroll always shows up on the home page but not on inside pages.

Currently the site is NOT having a problem, but this has happened in the past where it will work for a bit and then stop working.

The error says something like sql conflict zen tools can't load. Sorry, I don't have the actual error. I tried accessing old forum posts and I see the title, but am not allowed to see the inside information. I select the title and it says I have to update my subscription, although I am still current.

Oh well, if you can let me know if I should update or just let it go for now. Thanks.

paulus1031 Paul, there is an anomaly with the Zentools2 download in this JA website. The latest version is 2.4.0, but in the specific section of "Joomla Templates - JB Ascent 2", the proposed versions for downloading are 2.3.8 or 2.3,9.

If you go to your avatar in top right corner and click it
Then click settings - what does it have listed?

Right top corner, click avatar and choose settings and you will see this : https://prnt.sc/iyd8gp the options are disabled by default. We will enable them for all on monday. Then the notification for the replies should be auto for everyone.

Are you able to take a backup of the site?

With your membership are you able to download the latest zentools version for zentools1?
The latest version number is 1.14.3
