Test Environment Pages displaying in Production Environment when trying to Edit

I have three environments test, dev and production. Yesterday I made some changes in the test environment, replaced the menu with some custom code in the JA Builder custom code header section. The custom code calls some widgets we use to display the masthead and menu based on our standard. This morning I get notified that the menu has disappeared from the production instance. I checked the normal things to ensure I didn't unpublish the menu, change access or delete the menu, everything was as it should be. I then went into edit mode to ascertain what happened to the spotlight component used to display the module. When the page rendered it was not the frontpage of the production site that displayed, JA Builder was displaying the front-page of the test site!!! I had our level 3 support team check to ensure that no one setup replication, the connections in these seperate instances didn't accidentially get somehow connected and watched them test to ensure that was not the case. So I am at loss to explain or determine why JA builder would remove a component in a completely seperate instance. Please contact me and I can setup a session for us to go through this.

Hi,

May I know how did you build up these 3 environments? If you have production site with JA Builder and want to backup it in a dev / test site, you should not use normal backup method (for example, use Akeeba backup), you should use Import / Export feature of JA Builder, in which you will need to export each page from production site and import to dev / test site. So that when you make change, it will not affect other sites.

saguaros They used the normal backup method, as has been the norm for our previous upgrades, we have been using JA Builder since the site was first launched. I am not understanding how this is happening. These instances have different IP's, different databases, different domain names staging, test etc... There should be no state being maintained so are you stating there is a connection/cache being maintained somewhere else in which the builder checks then renders the page?

Hi,

It due to the SAAS model with which JA Builder is built, the editors are based on the server. And we recommend to backup with import / export feature. We're updating new JA Builder so you can update / backup in normal way.
