In the JA News Pro module I have it set to sort categories by ordering ascending. When I check the ordering in the category manager the order does not match up at all regardless of ascending or descending. I need to have the Today's News category items show up first. See the attached photos to see what I mean.

Are you speaking of the joomla admin login or the FTP not working? I just tested by copy/pasting the password into the login screen and got right in... It's working.

I checked FTP as well. Copy pasted and it let me in immediately.

Hello? It's been five days... Would really like to get this solved... Just checked and the logins work still...

      Hi,

Somehow I missed your message and I'm sorry for the same.

I can log into your site and see that the module is still showing correctly. It will display the categories in first column, then 2nd column, something like:

      1 5

      2 6

      3 7

      4 8

I check the ordering of selected categories in this module (ID:231) and it's also showing in that way: the 'Good Work' has ID of 25 and it's displaying on top first, then 'Around Town' with ID of 29.

      Kindly check again.

I'm not understanding this.... I see where you are saying that Good Works has the lowest ID number (21), but isn't the display order controlled by the order I have them listed in the category manager? If so then in the category manager Today's News should be first., followed by Schools, Real Estate, Parenting, etc. Please see the screen shot in my original post to see the category order that I have them listed in.

The category ID number shouldn't have anything to do with ordering in the module. Or if it does that is a silly way to do it. That would mean that I would have had to create the categories in the order that I want them listed so that their ID numbers are sequential. If I come along later and add more categories but want them to be in a different place in the order I would have to edit the database to change the ID numbers?

The order should be controlled by the order set by the admin in the category manager. That is how every other Joomla module I've ever used does it.

      Am I missing something here?

I should also mention that the ordering was fine prior to me updating the module to the most recent version. We had been running on the same old module since Teline 3 came out until recently when we updated everything. Why would the ordering change when the module was updated?

        Hi,

I got your point but I investigate further in code of this module and see that the module is sorting by ID of categories. I will share with the team for further improvement on this so it can order by the Ordering of categories.

        Regards

As I said, the old version ordered things properly (by category order). Please find a fix for this as soon as possible. Is the old version of the module still available? Will it still work properly with Joomla 3.8.7?

          Hi,

This due to the changes in Joomla core, in the previous version (when this module was created), to change order of categories, you must change their IDs. While in the new version of Joomla, it's different, you can drap&drop categories to change its ordering.

You can download old version in download section of template: https://member.joomlart.com/downloads/joomlart/joomla-templates/ja-teline-iii
