creating a simpli corporate template, as described in your documentation

Hi,

It's the first site I create myself with Joomla, I downloaded the simpli template, version updated 7.12.2017, and made a manual installation.

I followed step by step your documentation to create a business template (exactly as your demos suggest, not trying to do something special). However the outcome is by far not what your tutos and demos suggest (see picture attached). Is there any important step I missed?

Your documentation sometimes suggests:
1. [Corporate] Slideshow - Custom HTML module
Module position: topsl-1
Module Suffix: NOT USED

Do I have to work directly on the HTML code or can I manage everything from the different control panels?

The quickest way to replicate the demo site would be downloading and installing quickstart package. You can follow this documentation and thereon, you can make configuration changes accordingly

Quickstart package is possible only through fresh install as it already contains all the prerequisite joomla core folders and files. As stated, You will have the demo site replicated through the same

If you have installed the template through Extensions → Manage, You would be required to install and configure specific modules, plugins and components as per your need. The default extensions are there by default in fresh core joomla install

You can refer to this for creation of custom module however there are various other factors due to which exact similar type of module (look alike) wont appear at times if you have started with core joomla installation and not quickstart template package

Hi,

If your site is pretty new website with no existing content, you can try to use quickstart package and remember to install sample data so your site will look like our demo site.

In case that you don't want the sample data, you can install quickstart package in another location (dev site, for example) and check the module you want to duplicate on your main site, you will know how the module is configured and apply the same to your main site.

Note that with custom HTML module, you should turn off the Default Editor under Global Configuration in backend first as it often strips HTML tags and cause unexpected results.

I'm not sure to understand your last advice correctly...
Do you mean under "Templates/modify style /advanced parameters/site info/overwrite default / yes or no"?
or is it somewhere else?

I carried out a new installation using the quickstart package.
I'm slowly getting there, as far more templates do appear in the Joomla template selection menu.
I could put some menu items.

However, I do not have access to the features displayed in your documentation, like topsl-1 or topsl-2

Any advice on how to move on?

Ok, I started maybe too quickly, copying a Simpli-(Corporate Style) template and trying to customize it....

I deleted all what I did to come back to the original configuration....

What surprises me: among the 11+2 templates available, all of them except Simpli-Default, Simpli-(Corporate Style), Simpli-(Landing Page), and Simpli-(Integration) support the multi-language setting I selected (English, German, and French)...
It works fine with Beez3, Simpli-Green, -Red, -Blue, -Orange, -121, -magazine style, -photography, and even Protostar....

Can you explain that?

guillaume-martel Hi. Can You please explain what do you mean by multilanguage being not supported by tmplate ? Multilanguage is managed by joomla itself, so every template can use multilanguage when correct modules are published.

well, it's just that the language switcher module does not appear in all templates.
Furthermore, when you switch the language, it seems that only the menu set down the page is affected; the top menu remains unchanged, as if the language switcher has effect only on what is down this menu....

Any idea to enable the language switcher to act on the top menu (like home)?

Hi, I wanted to make the Simpli - [Magazine style] as the default template but still its the Simpli - Default template is the one showing on the frontend. Thats even after clearing cache. How do I fix this?
