Hi,
I see the live site and dev site are different. For the space in the dev site, it seems that you're showing the template style which includes the component block which shows the main content of a page.
You can check which template style is assigned to homepage (backend > Extensions > Templates), open that style > Layout tab and select homepage in Skip Component option: http://prntscr.com/ktrt6q
