June 14, 2010 at 6:49 am #151775I have had the pleasure of using JA norite and am around 90% finished.
The template has been a doddle to to work with and just a few minor items to finish off i.e. the logos for the ipone section etc… nothing serious.
Feel free to have a look over the site and if anything does not look right please please feel free to say.. I take all comments good and bad 🙂

June 14, 2010 at 8:29 am #346983Hi suckfish,
The site looks very good. Nice logo and favicon too.
I wasn’t sure, but it seems that there was a mistake on the front page, but maybe I am wrong.
Brice is a building company in Bath and has been working in and around the area for many years. (Should that be a full stop rather than a comma) Brice has new branding and a fresh look and feel website.
and under kitchens:
Some of our clients have the luxury of space, so we are able to create an ‘island’. O(full stop and O)ther clients have ‘galley’ kitchens.(full stop) Brice know that whatever the size and shape of your kitchen, you will be amazed at what we could create.
Again, I don’t know if these are right or not, just suggestions.
Good luck!

June 14, 2010 at 9:13 am #346994Thanks for that sunrise… yep they were typos, I have asked the client to proof read the site and I believe this is the hardest part of web design itsself..
If the content is not 100% it affects the whole website.again much appreciated

Hi There
I like the site it looks clean and has enough to keep you busy. However the site breaks badly in firefox at HDMI, seems most ja templates of late do.A quick rundown:
- The ‘links’ menu button wraps to next line appearing under home button.
- Your set of images on home page is out of order and text headings from articles are showing in the image areas.
- In your welcome article where you have this text explaining you have a blog (We have a blog ( Menu Above ) of which) Best to just put the blog url as a hyperlink to the word blog in the article, sounds and looks more professional.
- Your main tab is showing text building and maintanence etc, the word maintenance is misspelled in this instance.
- On the home page the main image with your list of services on it etc is 288kb you really need to get that down to 70 kb or so on the kitchens page several images are over 140 kb each this is killing the load times and spoiling all the hard work you’ve done.
I’m not dissing your efforts, no way it’s a good well thought out site just you need to test in Firefox. esp at higher resolutions and at 1920 x 1280
Blessings Shannon

Hi Lee
NP, however a mac does not display the same as a PC if you require screenshots I’m happy to supply and retest at HDMI PC /ff wise for you, also if needed I can reduce those bigger images if you don’t have the software to do so.

June 14, 2010 at 2:43 pm #347010Hi Lee
Something looks odd for me, I’ll attach a screengrab:
I’m using a pretty powerful Mac with latest versions of Safari and Firefox, same occurs in both?
Either, you designed it so that the text of property development is all over the third image, or there’s a problem!!!
Personally, I think the third image should be up top with the other two and text below (which it may well be on a PC)?
Also, with the main ‘Brice’ image at the top:
1. If you indented the ‘list’ below ‘brice’ so it aligned with ‘brice’ I think it would look far better
2. The ‘With Brice you get …’ catchline would benefit from a dropshadow to make the text pop out of the image a bit (few too many changes in colour/contrast to hold just plain orange text).
Otherwise, nice site … good favicon, nice logo, clean, sharp, easy to navigate.
However, I do agree with Shannon with regards the image sizes!
Cheers

June 15, 2010 at 7:01 am #347091Thanks chris, thanks shannon, I need to resize one of the pictures, i think its a combination of the 3 pictures together going over 570px in width.
I have mad a few of the changes shannon has suggested and i now agree, the list under the logo would look much better re-aligned.
Will make those changes later today as i am off to london for the day.
again many thanks for taking the time to go through this.

June 15, 2010 at 8:43 am #347103guys, if you get a chance, can you have a look at the problem with the image alignment.. i could not get it to do what you were getting on your screens. I have now merged the 4 pictures and loaded them as just 1 jpg.. that should sort out the alignment problems.
I have refreshed and tried cross browsers and it looks ok…
many thanks

June 15, 2010 at 8:47 am #347104Slightly off topic, but for those of you that can do this, its a nice little trick.
I use 2x dell 24 in monitors and when building a web site, i always want to see the whole site on the screen.. now with most cms, thats not possible. my solution was to turn one of the monitors up on its side and have used the graphics card to rotate the image on that screen so its in portrait not landscape.
I get the picture 😉
