    Hi,

I have two challenges I’ve been struggling with for a few hours now and can’t figure out. I’d really appreciate anybody’s help.

My website is: http://www.voterfarmersmarket.org. You can see both problems on the homepage. I also attach a screen shot that illustrates my problems.

First, referring to the userguide, located at: http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/userguide-ja-community-plus-for-joomla-2-5/, I noted that it says on page 4 that the slideshow’s content comes from “images/stories/slideshow”. Therefore, I created a series of images, eight in all, which I named using the same name as the sample pictures provided . I then uploaded these through my webhost to the images/stories/slideshow file and when asked if I wanted to overwrite the existing files by the same name, I said yes. When I look in the media manager at the images/stories/slideshow file from my backend, I see that only the eight images I uploaded are in the file and none of the sample pictures included with the clone are any longer in the file, having been overwritten. I also made the appropriate changes in the module, to give accompanying descriptions for the three extra pictures I had placed in the file–meaning the sample slideshow had only five jpg’s so I added lines in the window in the module manager where the descriptions are to be typed. SEE SCREEN SHOT

Now what I can’t figure out is why and how the sample images keep appearing. Notably, when the slideshow gets to sl-6, sl-7, and sl-8, it uses the images I uploaded, but uses the old sample images that don’t appear in the images/stories/slideshow folder. How is it doing that???? And how do I get the slideshow to use all 8 of my images and no others?

In case it helps, I am using the blue light profile and a modified default layout called vfm1.

Now, with respect to the second question: I did not want my search box to be in the upper right corner. Therefore, I reassigned it from the header position to the User 5 position. What I want in the upper right corner in the header is my social network profile links. My difficulty is that the header section is one broad position that apparently spans the entire page, which worked fine for the search box because you could tell the module to place itself to the Right. In the sample data template then, there are three things in the header section, the logo, the top navigation menu, and the search box. When I placed the social media module in header position, however, it appears under the top navigation menu and there is a big blank space in the right corner. SEE SCREEN SHOT.

I’m wondering if there is a way to create new positions for the template so that the header position is divided into three areas: left, right and center? Short of that or if it is easier to do some other way, how do I get the social media links separated from and to the right of the top navigation menu? I struggled with this for a long time today and cannot figure it out. Please help! 🙂

    Thank you

    Hi hankedson,

    With regards to the slideshow.

When you upload pictures it automatically creates a new folder in media manager to resize the images. This folder is at /images/resized/images/stories/demo/slideshow. If you look in there I wouldn’t be surprised if you have the old pictures there. I would recommend that you delete all the pictures here and in your /images/stories/demo/slideshow folder and then check that the site has no pictures running in the slideshow. You may have to clear the cache.

Load up fresh images into /images/stories/demo/slideshow using the inbuilt media manager and they should be picked up by the resized folder and that hopefully will solve the problem.

Generally it is better to start a thread for each issue so that one doesn’t get lost. You may want to start a new thread for the other issue. Make sure that you turn off the optimize css in the template.

    Regards

Thank you Swissa! With your help, I was able to fix the slide show. Any guidance on how to create new positions for the template so that the header position is divided into three areas: left, right and center? (Referencing my screen shot attached in the first post) Short of that or if it is easier to do some other way, how do I get the social media links separated from and to the right of the top navigation menu?

Thanks so much for helping me fix the slideshow. That alone is really terrific!

    Hank
