So I tried to install the quickstart package for the University template into Uniserver, a stand-alone server. I found the www directory, created a subdirectory called “Utah”, and copied the quickstart files there. I accepted most of the defaults and the installation directory was removed, as usual… I clicked the administrator and it runs okay.
But when I tried to view the site, I get a 404 error and “Component not found.”
What to do?

ShannonSeptember 6, 2012 at 8:39 pm #466395There is no live site link, since it’s a stand-alone server…it exists only on my desktop.

September 6, 2012 at 11:34 pm #466401The same thing happens when I install the University Quickstart into XAMPP, so either there’s an error in the package or I’m missing something fundamental. Do I need to obtain a registration key for a localhost install?

September 7, 2012 at 4:12 am #466423On WAMP I find I get an error but online it works fine, so I just bit the bullet and uploaded to my live host and will develop there after the stable release is out (will re upload) as it’s not a lot of difference apart from ftp transfer time.
The error I’m getting for JA Staff to see is in the attached screenshot, hoping they will add that to the fix list for the stable release

September 7, 2012 at 7:54 am #466449Hi Roger,
I did download and install in localhost, it works ok. Please download and reinstall again.
September 8, 2012 at 2:58 pm #466506I tried installing the Quickstart to a new database online today, and it’s the same 404 message. So there’s a problem with the Quickstart. I have been complaining about this on my support ticket and it is STILL not addressed. The techs seem to be dodging the problem.

September 10, 2012 at 10:04 am #466623Hi Roger,
Please check ticket reply.
September 11, 2012 at 12:22 am #466669I am already cancelling my membership. I could not evaluate university satisfactorily within the 7 day money-back period. Too many days have elapsed already.

September 11, 2012 at 1:48 am #466671Hi roger,
I have checked and could not see any error as reported. You site has been installed on stand-alone server – your desktop. Hence, i can’t check it.
Now you did upload it to live site but all menus have not been created and no article at all. This caused the 404 error message i think. Your installation issues seems to relate to sample database creation.
Please pm me your ftp account then I will install for you immediately.

Thanks diotima, I have tried installing it for the 4th time with sample data, now it is showing a blank page?? And when I add the “index.php” to the address i get the 404 error but not the custom error only the generic one.
Any more suggestions!!
